We had the pleasure and honor of participating in the SNAM Supplier Convention, hosted by our long-standing client with whom we’ve proudly shared a strong collaboration for many years.
During the event, we had the opportunity to contribute with a video, in which we discussed the integration of sustainability criteria in the design and construction of gas infrastructure.
About two years ago, SNAM involved us in the application of sustainability principles to gas infrastructures, starting with our collaboration on the construction site of the San Salvo–Biccari gas pipeline.
This was a pioneering initiative, where we worked side by side with SNAM’s team and with the valuable support of the Sustainable Infrastructure Association (AIS), exploring how sustainability principles could be effectively applied to the typical phases of such projects.
With the aim of making the adoption of these principles both effective and structural throughout every stage of the project — and to streamline the permitting process — Techfem invested in upskilling its team through in-depth study of the Envision protocol, leading to the certification of our designers and managers involved across the project life cycle.
From these experiences came the desire to develop Techfem’s own Manual for the Design of Sustainable Infrastructure and Plants, which will serve as a practical guideline for all teams engaged in the design process.
The real challenge today is to make this approach systemic — embedding key topics such as Stakeholder Engagement, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), the development of Artificial Intelligence, and the use of advanced technologies like Augmented Reality into our design guidelines. All this, driven by a spirit of continuous innovation that has always been part of our DNA.
